The latest scheme is known as "chucking" which involves placing large sums of GP in a duel 1v1 typically requiring an intermediary to distribute the cushioned winnings to the winner of the duel. In recent times, there were instances when the player would be fighting for the benefit of another player to win an increase in the prize pool.
"As you've gathered the primary motive behind the Duel Arena's removal was to curb activities we deemed unacceptable in line with our regulations," said Jagex. "However we've observed since the launch of the PvP Arena and the PvP Arena, these rulebreaking activities have adapted accordingly. These activities essentially mirror 'commission stakestaking' and have been increasing common among the previous inhabitants of the Duel Arena."
"We would like to make it clear: 'community chucking', whether you are hosting or taking part in it, is NOT allowed and infringes on rules of the Games of Chance section of our Game Rules," warned the studio. "This applies regardless of whether or not the host is paid a tip or not. Furthermore, any staking or duels with the aid of an intermediary is not permitted. We will take action against account owners and/or those involved in staking and throwing."
Another form of activity Jagex warns that is in violation of the game's terms of use is re-roll contests. "A Re-roll giveaway is a type of event in which players enter, sometimes at a fee, for the chance to win some prize. Once a number of players have registered and the host has decided to select one random winner from the list of participants," the studio explained. "After the winner is chosen the viewers are sometimes encouraged to make the host an offsite donation or tip in the form real-world money , to re-roll winner of the "giveaway". This can occur multiple times with the potential for an endless number of re-rolls."
